Gilat Satellite Networks has received a multimillion order from a large avionics company for Sidewinder terminals for in-flight connectivity (IFC), the company announced Jan. 27.

The Sidewinder terminal was developed by Stellar Blu, which is now part of Gilat. Sidewinder is an electronically steered antenna (ESA) compatible with both Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellites and the Eutelsat OneWeb Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation. It supports IFC programs for both SES and Panasonic.

The terminals are set to be delivered within the next six months.

“Sidewinder continues to gain strong traction in the inflight connectivity market as operators and partners look for scalable, next generation antenna solutions,” said Ron Levin, President of Gilat Commercial Division. “This order reinforces Gilat’s leadership in IFC and our ability to deliver proven, high-performance technologies for todays and future aircraft.”

Last year, Gilat reported it had received more than $60 million in Sidewinder orders, for delivery over the next year.
